Lynda and Jerry Glass

Lynda and Jerry Glass began their careers doing custom home construction in Mississippi. In 1992, they began making bird houses and selling them on Saturday mornings at small local craft shows. After a few years of small-scale success, they ended their human-oriented business, joined up with Jerry's brother Larry, and began focusing entirely on exquisite, imaginative bird, butterfly and ladybug dwellings.

Lynda and Jerry's team is as talented as they are eclectic. Jerry is primarily responsible for both structural and aesthetic design. James, a woodworker with many years of experience, cuts the precise, tiny boards and other shapes needed, using only select grade yellow cypress harvested following Forest Stewardship Council guidelines and upcycled from local furniture manufacturing leftovers. Bobby Gene hand-applies each unique, stone-washed shingle cut by the special machinery designed in-house for that purpose.

The Heartwood crew create their own boxes from post-consumer fiber reclaimed from local factories. They ship tens of thousands of wooden houses a year, all made without cutting a single tree.

This cozy abode is not only cute, it's also functional. Would you gift this handmade house to your favorite gardener?

The price is pretty high, but I just LOVE the idea.

I love it, it's rustic, not too cheesy cute, it's functional and a real conversation starter. Plus, it's handmade in the USA!

            Vote: Thumbs down!

I'm just not feeling it...and $58 for a small birdhouse seems a bit steep.

I also find the price a bit high. But I love it.

Price to high. Also, how do you attract lady bugs to it instead of say wasps etc?

            Vote: Thumbs down!

            It's cute, but overpriced

            Vote: Thumbs up!

            Cute. I want one.

Love the idea but the $58 pricetag. I can go to my local craft store and make one of my own.

            Vote: Thumbs down!

It's priced a bit high, but this would make a great gift.
