Wine Character Arc

Have you sampled a Shafer Relentless 2008? A 2010 Château de St.-Cosme Gigondas? A 2009 Shea Estate Pinot Noir? A 2010 Achával-Ferrer's Malbec?

Can't choose where to start? Why not try them all!

Flights have long been opportunities for sommeliers in training to sample the newest wines without falling prey to the drink's dizzying effects. With this elegant set, you can recreate this bar and restaurant trend in your own home. Appropriately, this gorgeous base is made from the stave of a retired French oak or Bordeaux wine barrel and bears the beautiful effects of time and wine. These four mini carafes are perfect the size to share with a date or a good friend, and make for a fun night full of mouthwatering discoveries. Host blind taste tests, work on refining your palates, or simply rank your favorites and expand your wine knowledge. Base handmade in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Bob Yates

Bob Yates is doing what he loves to do. He is transforming end of life wine barrels into handsome, furniture grade home furnishings displaying rich color and the natural beauty of the wood. He took a 30 year hobby of woodworking and coupled it with a passion for wine to create a viable business.

Bob has long been a wine enthusiast, but a job move to northern California in the late nineties presented him with the opportunity to frequent many of Napa Valley's boutique wineries and cultivate an interest in the wine enthusiast lifestyle. He noticed many empty used and weathered wine barrels accumulating and occupying valuable space during his winery visits. His challenge became applying his woodworking skills to transform this unappealing product. What resulted was a recycling of these barrels and the creation of unique, attractive furnishings that are functional and decorative.

Bob decided to test some of the wine accessories he designed at some local wine shows and festivals. Patrons and winery owners encouraged him to continue developing product using end of life wine barrels. He took their advice and, as they say, the rest is history! Bob now has a complete catalog of products in every price range for wine, craft beer and fine spirit enthusiasts. His attention to detail and product quality is evident in the way his unique designs embrace the functionality of each item. collection
