The Power of Love

We all know Venus. Even centuries after the Roman gods fell from worship, we still look to her has an ideal of love, sensuality and abundance. Why not celebrate and honor her as we travel the tangled paths of love!

Mary Steratore's divine necklace seeks to do just that. The sculptural silver pendant features Venus' face in a moment of rapturous contemplation, framed by the long sweep of her hair. It's paired with a small, heart-shaped charm of garnet—a stone traditionally associated with vitality, courage and passion. The stone is hand cut and mounted in silver. Steratore's necklaces are truly global creations: the molds are made in Italy, the silver charms are cast in Thailand, the semi-precious stone charms are made in India, and the silver ball chain is made in USA.

Mary Steratore

It can be quite daunting trading one career for another, especially when there are PhD's involved. But for Mary Steratore, it led to the realization of true artistic expression.

Leaving archaeology to create her own fine art, Steratore settled in Rome where her paintings and sculptures were well-received. After showing her work all over Italy and the US, she developed a new line of jewelry, dubbed b.u., as an extension of her sculpting.

Drawing from Steratore's vast knowledge of artifacts and her extensive world travels, b.u. creations have an old-world aesthetic. Each piece is meticulously hand-made using a long-lost wax-casting method. With the help of Rome's top notch artisans, Steratore brings a little beauty and a lot of ancient wisdom into everyday, modern lives. collection

Mary Steratore's Venus Goddess Pendant is a great way to celebrate love. Would you wear this silver and semi-precious stone necklace or gift it to someone who has a special place in your heart?

I love the idea of jewelry inspired by ancient gods and goddesses, but this particular piece doesn't look very appealing.

Vote: Thumbs down!

Others may like it, but it looks kind of scary.

The stone is beautiful, but the face is too primitive. I would not purchase this.

I love goddess jewelry and am always looking for unique pieces. This fits the bill.

Tho' I normally love this type of jewelry - this one is not my cup of tea.

Vote: Thumbs down!

It looks unattractive.

Vote: Thumbs down!

Looks cheap. =(

Vote: Thumbs down!

Its weird looking...not in the good way.

Vote: Thumbs down!

The concept is a good one, but the face doesn't hit the mark for me. A bit too modern for the subject!

Vote: Thumbs down!

Great idea, but she's not attractive!

Vote: Thumbs down!

I think it's a good idea, but the face looks smashed in and there could have been better detailing on the hair.

Vote: Thumbs down!

Not as pretty as I would hope to represent Venus.

Vote: Thumbs down!

It's not very attractive.

Vote: Thumbs down!

looks to be of poor quality

Vote: Thumbs down!

Without you explaining it, I thought it had something to do with Mom jewelry and birthstones for kids.

Vote: Thumbs down!

Not something I would wear...

Vote: Thumbs down!

Just not my style

Vote: Thumbs down!

I love the pendant itself but i wish the gem was set in it, it appears to be hanging next to it and the chain makes it look incredibly cheap.

Vote: Thumbs down!

it just doesnt look that great, not enough detail in the casting

Vote: Thumbs down!

Singularly unattractive!

Vote: Thumbs down!

Not pretty to look at; the face doesn't have to be perfect, but she is kind of scary to look at.

Vote: Thumbs down!

Not something I'd want to wear

Vote: Thumbs down!

I don't like it at all. It has an evil look, like Carrie. Scary and creepy

Vote: Thumbs down!

It is not attractive at all to me

Vote: Thumbs down!

The face is just a little off.

Vote: Thumbs down!

Venus is the goddess of beauty - this pendant does not depict that. I wouldn't wear something ugly around my neck.

Vote: Thumbs down!

Facial features are not appealing although I like the idea.

Vote: Thumbs down!

Love the idea, but not the sculpture.

a little scary looking.
