Go the Distance
For a distance runner, a marathon isn't just a sport. It's a commitment. A way of life, where simply completing the race is a triumph. This sophisticated pendant is a way for you to honor that passion for physical achievement.
Two silver-plated discs are suspended back to back from a smoky gray cord. For the larger one, a special process is used to transfer a black and white photographic image directly onto the metal. The smaller disk is printed with the number 26.2 (the length in miles of a marathon) OR 13.1 (a half-marathon). Both are then given a thin layer of resin, which protects the graphic while giving them a sense of visual depth. Nylon cord has sterling silver clasp. Handmade in New Mexico.
Exclusively at UncommonGoods.

Jeff Ryan's Marathon Pendant design isn't just lovely, it's also symbolic. We think this is a great way to celebrate the victory of completing a 26.2 mile race! Would you show off your love of running with this design? What other milestones would you like to see commemorated in sterling silver?

Sooo...is it a custom piece or no? Nice idea, but not worth it.

Thanks for voting, Mallory! How would you like to see it customized? This pendant includes the '26.2' stamp, but we're wondering if voters would be interested in other milestones, like '13.1' or '5K'. Are you thinking more along the lines of name and date? Or different activities (swimming, bike race, etc.)?

I would like it better with a different figure for the image. I feel like the casual look of the piece would work better with the engraved pendants that are popular now rather than a photographic image. I would consider something similar for the marathon runners I know.

It would be great if you could send an image of yourself running and have that image transferred onto the pendant. Many marathons give you a necklace when you finish, so I don't if anyone would purchase a necklace that doesn't commemorate a specific race.

This product would be great if the runner could put their best mileage and time completed on there, or a time and mileage they are trying to accomplish as a goal reminder.....That would be way more meaningful than just 26.2

I'm the one that suggested the marathon pendants to Uncommon Goods. I love this style. So many other providers of these type of necklaces have a real "industrial" feel to them. This is very lovely with the runner on one side. Can I have a 13.1 freebie for my suggestion. (LOL)

I'm not a runner, but I could see giving this as a gift at the right price - under $25

the runners know what they've run. maybe they'd like a date and time on that as well. how many marathons are run on beaches? just askin'.

Would also be neat if you could have your own photo on one side then on the smaller disc have a wedding date, birthdate, memorial date

There's enough space to get a date engraved on the back, too, which I think would really make the piece.

like it IF it can be personalized with date of race, time, etc. Nice momento for someone who's doing their first marathon/race.

I hate running but this is really pretty and I could see buying it as a gift. If I knew someone who ran.

Would buy this and have it engraved with name of marathon and date

I like it, but the style looks a little feminine to me and the person I would buy it for would be my husband, the marathoner. I think male/female versions would be nice. I would prefer a more stylized/line drawn runner, and the option to customize the back of the 26.2 portion of the medal with date, time, location name/abbreviation (3 lines.) Very nifty idea, though.
