Natural History
Celebrate the years behind your words with this one-of-a-kind pen wrapped in century-old sustainable wood, tracked with historic tree rings.
Made from trees that are felled as part of forest restoration projects, its wooden casing displays a tree's life through tightly coiled rings. A new ring formed around the grain for each year of growth. Two key dates are inscribed on the pen, allowing you to count back to the important events in your life: marriage, the birth of a child, graduation.
With 100 plus years of history behind each tree, they will become a meaningful representation and treasured token of your life, or a special keepsake for your loved ones.
Harvesting these small diameter trees helps protect larger, older trees, and the future of the old-growth forests to which they belong. Handmade by Dave Wager in Missoula, Montana.
Each is one-of-a-kind and will vary.
Features a strong magnetic cap that attaches to top when closed and bottom when open. Comes in wooden presentation box with artist card.

Dave Wager
A longtime woodworker and a forest ecologist, Dave Wager spent the early part of his career studying tree ring growth in response to environmental factors. Wager's passion for nature and finding ways to restore it propelled his work over the next 10 years with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification, through which he promoted environmentally and socially responsible forestry through Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification.
Inspired by tree ring analysis and the need to share natural history information about Western fronts, Wager chose an unexpected medium to engage the public: pens. He developed an inspired concept into a handcrafted, wooden pen which exemplified his experience and interests, and after whittling his first prototype, the Tree Ring Pen was born. See all creations.
