Traditional Mexican Hot Chocolate

$15.00

History In A Cup

Once upon a time, chocolate was a treasured substance, ground carefully into powder using stone-chiseled mortars. Over the years, as it became more available, the original methods used to prepare it became less and less common.

Although hot chocolate is a popular drink nowadays, true cacao is hard to come by. Kekua, made of 100% natural grounded cacao, sugar and cinnamon quite literally means "cacao" in Purepechua, an indigenous Mexican language.

Kekua evokes the time-honored traditions of ancient Mexican peoples, and is considered authentic by modern-day inhabitants. Grind it up using the traditional Molinillo to make a rich and frothy cup of hot chocolate, or try your hand at a spicy mole sauce.

100% natural and individually wrapped in wax paper inside natural kraft paper. Each package contains 4 hand molded chocolate disks. Makes 16 cups. Made in Mexico.

Comments about Traditional Mexican Hot Chocolate:

I was looking for a real mexican hot chocolate which I previously got from another store but they no longer carry it. This is ok but nothing special. It is a bit too sweet without much in the way of mexican spices. In addition, there were no directions included as to how much liquid to add. [...]

Comments about Traditional Mexican Hot Chocolate:

I do have to use a spoon to get it completely incorporated into the milk, but that's okay -- licking the spoon is divine!
