Spin a Story
Jules Gissler has always loved the curlicue. To her, the springy gesture is full of pure joy. She sealed her love for this emphatic flourish the first time she used it, as a decoration on an envelope that made the address "smile." Soon it multiplied and danced its way into every piece of the artist's work. They sprang from flowers, curled into mustaches, and even bounced straight into her signature.
Jules' trademark curlicues boing around in the background behind Toby, the shaggy dog, and his equally hairy companion, who wonders to himself why, oh why, did he have to wear the pinwheel headband! The quirky scenarios depicted in all of Jules' prints are inspired by her imaginative daughter and her rescue dog, Harper. These precocious pooches make ideal companions for pup lovers, spunky youngsters, and those with an appetite for cheekiness. Printed and framed in Oregon.

- the maker
Jules Gissler grew up in the Big Sky country of Montana. She received a degree in Graphic Design from Montana State University in Bozeman. For the past 25 years she has stretched her creativity in many directions. Her hand-painted pillows with beads and conversational charms were sold in retail stores such as Barneys New York, Ballard Designs catalog, ABC Carpet & Home-New York, and The American Craft Museum. One of her pillow designs also became a hand-painted canvas doll named the “Baby Angel”, which celebrates individuality. She has also designed wardrobe for a blues singer, William Bell, and taught art to children. When not painting whimsical art or adding her signature designs to greeting cards, fabric, pillows and furniture, she is producing jewelry for her line, J Period-known for the ziG bracelet, made of pearls and hardware. Good Samaritan Hospital commissioned two paintings by Jules; "Hope" and "Joy”. Both are permanently displayed in the new surgery waiting area. Currently, her line can be seen at The MN Collection showroom in the Scottsdale Design District, Cornelia Park, Mackie's Parlour, Two Plates Full, Paper Joy, La Grande Orange, Ivy Boutique , Fields of Fur Pet Salon, Bees Knees, and Tempe Arts Center. Jules has lived in several cities, but Phoenix, Arizona, has been her home the past 13 years. She continues to be inspired by her daughter, her rescue dog, Harper, and her eclectic group of very cool pals.
