Small Wonder

Like a fairy ring of mushrooms that appears overnight, this enchanting little dish will bring a touch of magic to the familiar landscape of your home. It's handsculpted and painted by ceramicist Tasha McKelvey, who creates the ridged details in the bowl's surface by pressing her stoneware clay against a piece of wood from a 100-year-old barn. You can slip a ring around the red-capped mushroom, and use the dish to hold your jewelry by your sink or nightstand.Handmade in Richmond, Virginia.

Comments about TINY MUSHROOM RING DISH:

I want to keep this for myself! The tiny ring dish is beautiful--you can tell it was made by the artist. And it comes with a card telling about the artist too--that helped. It's a gift but the only thing I didn't realize is how tiny it really is. Just check the "specs" before to make sure it's what you want.

shower gift

Comments about TINY MUSHROOM RING DISH:

I bought this as a gift for my sister's "personal and practical" wedding shower. She is very creative, into ceramics, and I knew she would love the nontraditional styling of this ring dish. Plus she will need a spot for her diamond after the wedding! It was very nicely made, a perfect size, and was packed well in a box with the artist's information. Great!

Comments about TINY MUSHROOM RING DISH:

I bought this dish as well as the other bird dish and though I think this is also cute, I like the bird dish design a bit more. I thought the stem of this mushroom would be better since for a ring it would have a place, but it's sometimes a bit awkward to get the ring off the dish without lifting the dish. I'm still keeping it, but if I were to buy a ring dish for a friend, I would buy the bird dish.

Comments about TINY MUSHROOM RING DISH:

The recipient loves mushrooms so this item seemed fitting. However, as a ring holder, there is not much room for the rings. Also, pottery glaze on mushroom stem part appears to be missing on lower half as if it was done in a hurry.

        Service and delivery comments:

        Delivery of item was prompt.

Comments about TINY MUSHROOM RING DISH:

This mushroom ring holder is really unique and fun compared to other ring holders I found online. However, pay attention to the dimensions! I didn't realize how tiny it would be--especially for the price.

Artist Tasha McKelvey won our Uncommon Ceramics Design Challenge with her Birdie Mini Dish. We loved her design so much, we couldn't wait to see more of her work! Would you store your favorite ring in this handmade dish?

I agree with previous commenters; this doesn't actually look like a mushroom. If it did, it would be adorable and I would definitely want it. But when the picture first came up, before I read the description or name of it, my first reaction was "...what is that?!"

Interesting. Passable for some. Not my personal style to actually have in my home. Maybe for use in the kitchen or garden. But that's just me.

Thanks for the question, Mikkie. The mushroom is "growing" from the middle of the dish. You can see an alternate view by clicking on the left thumbnail under the main image.
