Stalagmite Makes Right

Artist Robert Cannon's body of work plays with the interplay of organic forms and modern materials, natural landscapes and man-made systems. Now, his work has branched out beyond exhibition work, bringing Cannon's unique vision to decorative and furniture design.

This extraordinary side table seems to offer a glimpse down through the surface of a still pool of water into an enchanted garden below. The base rises up towards the round glass table top through a series of stalagmite-like pillars, each topped with a recess for placing ferns, moss, air plants, succulents or other greenery. The table is hand-built using durable, weather-resistant cement, and can be used indoors or out. Its sculptural beauty invites people into your living room or office, but looks equally at home in your favorite quiet corner of the garden. Handmade in Hamilton, NJ.

In 2012, expanding his sculpture practice and furthering his passion for great design, he incorporated Opiary, as his green design lab. collection
