Terri McCallister has been in love with glass art since childhood when she first watched glassblowers at amusement parks and craft fairs create amazing works of art out of glass rods. She loves the idea of functional art and her clocks reflect that. She studied both glass fusing and glass blowing at the University of Texas at Arlington in 2002. Her main focus became glass fusing as she began to see the ability to make scenes and pictures by cutting, shaping and flame working pieces of glass and then fusing them together in a kiln to form her various designs. She formed LuLu Glass in 2011 and began making wall pieces, plates, lamp sconces, clocks and custom designed glass tiles. She gets her inspiration from all the things she enjoys in life and also from her travel experiences flying the globe as a commercial airline pilot. Each of her designs are lovingly created by hand with the wish that each customer gets the same enjoyment out of her designs as she did by creating them. Terri currently lives on Cape Cod, MA with her two dogs who provide her with much love and laughter.
Hey, I'm Surfin' Here!
For serious surf enthusiasts, there's no better time to hit the waves than now! Rather than glaze over this high-energy hobby, artist Terri McCallister glazes a tongue-in-cheek homage in monochromatic glass directly onto the face of her sign-meets-clock. As a commercial airline pilot, Terri used to fly to Hawaii on a regular basis. While there, she noticed clever signs on the side of the street cautioning drivers to watch out for surfers crossing the street with their boards. In this quirky piece of functional décor, she captures the spirit of these signs and celebrates the adventurous abandon of surfers everywhere by capturing her admiration of their cool, carefree attitude in colorful, illustrative glass. Handmade in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
