A Flowering of the Arts
These vibrant textile earrings are the creation of talented, Fair Trade artisans in the state of Yucatan in Mexico. They're made using a variation of traditional Mayan embroidery, where tightly wound, intricate stitches are applied to the fabric before then cutting it away, leaving just the lace-like pattern of thread. The bright yellow colors and sunflower motif make these brilliant summertime accessories. You can feel warm inside, as well, knowing that its production is preserving a traditional art form while supporting employment, healthcare and education in impoverished communities. Made in Yucatan, Mexico.
