Solar Flair

Bring a burst of brilliant color into your home with these splashy sunburst suncatchers. Artist Jim Loewer blows each one by hand from sturdy borosilicate glass, creating their flared form by spinning them. A loop at the top makes them easy to hang in a sunny window, or outside near your favorite garden seat. Handmade in Philadelphia, PA.

Due to the handmade nature, each piece is one-of-a-kind and will vary.

JimLoewer

Jim Loewer is an artist by day and a law student by night. Raised in Columbia, SC he now resides in Philadelphia. His glass blowing is primarily self taught through a process of trial and error. He loves the relatively instant gratification that comes with blowing glass.

Loewer has an undergraduate degree in painting from the University of California and a teaching degree from the University of South Carolina. He taught school for 4 years before devoting himself full time to glass. He focuses on contemporary organic forms influenced by Japanese craft and the American studio glass movement. His studio is in North Philadelphia in the old Atlas building, which also houses various other artists and craftspeople. collection
