Arra David and Anne Johnson

Arra David and Anne Johnson

Arra David and Anne Johnson are longtime New England rockhounds. Their love for Mother Nature's artwork in stone and hardwood inspires them to handcraft functional creations that bring the outdoors in. They craft each piece with attention to detail, quality, and respect for nature.

Working with stone calls for custom fixtures and techniques. Arra is an engineer and serial inventor, while Anne is an artist with a keen eye for balance and harmony. Together, they blend the endless varieties of nature's materials into pieces that decorate homes and will keep generations connected to their environment.

To keep our beaches and forests as they are, Anne and Arra "plant" a new quarry stone in the water to replace each one gathered, and they plant ten times the number of trees harvested for their work. collection

Comments about STICKS & STONES SWIZZLE SET:

I ordered 2 sets for christmas gifts. Both sets arrived broken. The rocks just dont do well sliding up and down the glass rod in transit. I went through customer service.. they only replaced one set.. and even though it appeared they tried to add extra packaging.. one of the 2 rods came through broken. I gave up. Christmas is over. So I have some cool rocks with holes in them.. and some little pieces of wood.. with holes in them and a lot of broken glass rod pieces. Maybe if they were packaged differently to ship.. like being taped together and to something.. allowing for no movement??? Although I am not totally sure that would solve things either. Some of the rods were broken in half.. not just at the ends.

Comments about STICKS & STONES SWIZZLE SET:

I bought these swivel sticks as a gift for a close friend. They were fascinated by the concept of the sea stones and were excited to use them for the first time. These are a great conversation piece and work well for several types of beverages.

      Service and delivery comments:

When I received the original shipment, the Pyrex rods were shattered. I immediately called Uncommon Goods and was blown away by the customer service I received! Not only was I able to keep the broken product, but the replacement was shipped out immediately and arrived just before Christmas. In return, I've shared my positive experience with several of my colleagues. I will defiantly use Uncommon Goods as a primary source for all of my unique gift ideas. Keep up the great work!

sticks came broken. There's not enough packaging in the box they come in. and the stick doesn't fit easily into the wood base. You have to shove it in, which by then, the sticks would've eventually broke anyways.

We make alot of stirred cocktails that need to stay chilled but can't get watered down These are a great solution - wish they came with washing instructions and were slightly smaller / less heavy.

I thought this would make a good stocking stuffer for my father-in-law; however, when I received it, the glass stirrers were smashed. The glass and the stones were just thrown into a box together without any packaging material. The customer service rep that I spoke with was friendly and said she would make a note to package the next one with some bubble wrap or better packing and send a replacement right away. It's been several weeks and I have not received anything.

I bought this as a gift and I have to keep it. The box didn't say fragile or glass or nothing on it. And inside the box was glass dust and rocks. Now all I can do is use these things as regular ice cubes. What a waste of money.

Cute idea but seems like if you want the rocks in the glass to keep the drink cool you will have the swizzle sticks sticking out of the glass with each sip. Watch out for your eyes!

Neat idea but personally just prefer ice in my drinks. Plus it's a lot easier w/ ice b/c there is no clean up.

I would be afraid this would chip my glassware and be noisy clanking around inside of the glass.

                Vote: Thumbs down!

It's a good idea compared to the stone cube you put in drinks because these won't chip your teeth since you can take it out. However, it looks bulky and I would often forget to chill them and I can't imagine where you would put them when you start to drink because they would get in your way.

If we used these in tumblers in place of ice, we would never know what hit us! Understand no dilution but just doesn't float my boat for how it's marketed.

Although a cool concept...I can't help but look at it and think of dirt and bugs. Unless I am in a survival situation and need to heat them up to sterlize water for drinking...I would never want stones in my drink.

Whiskey stones are one thing, but this is a bit too granola for my tastes. It really looks like someone went into their driveway or stream and pulled out stones, drilled a hole and used a swizzle stick to stick them in some wood. A for effort, D- for execution.

I like the idea, but it doesn't seem practical. Perhaps a larger wood base on which a few sets of swizzle sticks could sit?--but then I imagine the price point would be far too high.

Too big, too much $$ for ONE sizzle stick/ice replacement. Cumbersome and glasses get clinked, etc, what are the chances the glass part of the swizzle won't break...

ONE swizzle stick? Really? For $20? Really? No. Not even for a pair. For four, maybe. And how heavy are these?

I wouldn't buy only one at $20 even though I gave it a thumbs up. It needs to be a set of AT LEAST two.
