Gouda To Great

Alabama artist Al Stephens hammers recycled steel to perfection using time-honored technique to create this old world cheese spreader. Bearing the heft and build of a tool from a bygone era, Stephens imparts a made-for-life quality with design details like an artist's stamp and curled handle.

When it comes to cheese, a long blade slices and spreads with equal zeal while a sturdy handle keeps a grip on form and function. Handmade in Alabama of mild steel.

I think that I mainly like this because it goes with other kitchen tools on the UG site made of recycled steel.

Does not look like a cheese spreader to me. If it weren't for the cracker there, I wouldn't have known what it was.

$25 for a cheese spreader? Why do I need a steel cheese spreader? It's very nice looking and love that it's hand crafted, but ... it'd be worth it if it was part of a set or something.

Crazy expensive for what it is...

It's lovely, but isn't $25 a little too much?

Jody

It doesn't look comfortable to use.

Why would I want to spend $25 on a "cheese spreader" when I could use a butter knife? No thanks. Besides if I had guests over they wouldn't even know what it was meant to be used as.

It looks cool and all. Quite pricy and looks a bit uncomfortable to use

I do love this because I already have the cheese slicer and it completes the set.

I don't hate it but it is very expensive for something I could use a butter knife for.

Very cool and goes with the other items! It would make a nice set. Yes it's pricey, but people do buy sets of fancy cheese knives if they are into that sort of thing. It's for special dinners and occasions.

I've already got enough doodads in my kitchen, it'd have to be incredible to add to the collection, though on reflection, it'd probably make a good hostess gift.

I think some people would definately use this for their parties, but I don't think it is anything my family would really want, so we'll stick with our cheap ones.

I'm just not going to spend $25 on something I can do with a butter knife.

I like that it's recycled steel and would make a nice gift, but I don't think I would by it for myself - too expensive.

Looks like something that will end up at the bottom of a drawer.

Looks lore like a shoe horn

Sorry my Alabama neighbor . . . I have one. It's heavy, awkward and I haven't yet figured out how not to break my cracker! Totally lost in the bottom of the drawer.

So stylish and a conversation piece, but to use this in real life is cumbersome.

Looks difficult to use

Really like the style but way overpriced for a cheese spreader, and item I know I would use exactly one time before forgetting about it in my gadget drawer!
