Berry Buddy

We've all experienced it. You grab your soup and you think you've got the crackers under control. But before you know it, preventing your soup from sloshing becomes your priority, those crackers become an afterthought and the inevitable happens; your salty sides take a dive onto the floor, crumbs shuffle off, and in trying to prevent one mess, you end up with a bigger one. Poor crackers always get the brush off!
Finally, your crunchy companions have a home, right where they belong, nestled next to your soup. This hand-sculpted piece by Brian Kunkelman lets you end the juggling act and concentrate on satisfying your comfort food cravings. Each piece is coated with a lovely food-safe glaze that emphases the concentric ripples molded into the clay. And while it provides the perfect place to pair hearty helpings of soup or chili and crackers, this piece is also perfectly suited for dips of all sorts, as well as sweet combinations, like ice cream and cookies. Handmade in Pennsylvania.

“Each pot requires the same care and attention, whether you're making one or a hundred...and I try to be conscious that this pot's going to be part of someone's life.”
“There’s a fine line between a rut and a groove,” potter Brian Kunkelman likes to say. This sentiment underscores the delicate balance required to hand-throw his designs with the right mix of consistency and hand-crafted variation that makes each piece one-of-a-kind. Brian is a potter who seems to go with the flow, a metaphor that runs through his studio and craft—from the water that flows through the cultivated pond outside his studio window, to the variety of music that flows through his speakers (equidistant from his potter’s wheel), and the meditative motion of working with stoneware clay. Using little more than his hands and his trusty, powered foot wheel, he deftly coaxes clay into clever bowls that meld organic elegance with utility.

Comments about UncommonGoods Soup and Crackers Bowl:
A practical, beautiful, artisan-made-in-the-USA product. What could be better? Given to a family member who has hand-mobility issues, this bowl combo allows her to carry two foods to the table at once and to enjoy them at her leisure. Great for single-serving eating. Used with soup and crackers, but also hummus and pita chips or carrot sticks, salsa and a few corn chips, stew and a slice of bread. Once you have this bowl, the combinations you attempt are limitless.

I like the unique design and the color choices. I'm hoping the area that holds crackers will fit 1-2 slices of English muffins.

Comments about UncommonGoods Soup and Crackers Bowl:
I purchased 4 bowls as gifts for my staff for this coming Christmas. They appeared attractive in the catalog, something different that I did not think they would buy for themselves. I am very pleased with the appearance and quality. One had a defect. I returned it and had it replaced with no problem; customer service was very easy to work with, very polite. I have no idea yet about durability since they are gifts yet to be given.
