Open-and-Shut Case

Take cards and cash on the go without the bag, or the bulk. The inspiration for this ingenious little sleeve all started when designer Dave Zuverink set out to construct a slim, yet super strong, wallet to contain all of his essentials without creating a big bulge in his back pocket. In his search, he discovered Tyvek®, a rip-resistant material that, when folded, is still less than half the thickness of its fabric and leather counterparts.

After creating over 100 prototypes, Dave emerged with a sleek, eco-friendly solution to his conundrum. His bi-fold wallets have a large central flap for storing cash, 6 slots for cards, and a window to keep your license or id on view. The completely recyclable Tyvek material contains 25% post-consumer recycled content. It's printed with earth-friendly, zero VOC (volatile organic compounds) ink using a process that requires no water. A professional, local tailor stitches and assembles each finished wallet in California.

Dave Zuverink

Dave Zuverink became obsessed with finding a wallet that was thin enough to go in his front pocket along with an iPhone without creating a big bulge. As he describes, "I refined the design by creating over 100 prototypes, learning to sew in the process. I carried versions around with me for over a year to test out various design alternatives."

In addition to its durability and light weight, Dave chose Tyvek for its environmental benefits. Technically a sheet plastic, it's made from 25% post-consumer recycled material and is 100% recyclable.

Originally trained in Industrial Design, Dave went on to become an interaction designer in Silicon Valley. He says, "I really enjoyed turning back to my product design roots to create the SlimFold!" See all creations.
