Tickled Pink

Valerie Galloway's passion for all things Post-War Parisian—from French New Wave cinema to glamorous shots of her mother and her aunt—give her oeuvre a certain jeu d'esprit that is simply magnifique! Her pert and utterly posh characters exhibit the artist's ardor for costume and pattern and allow her to interpret and recapture her most frequented flicks as well as moments from her childhood.

This high-quality giclee print of Valerie's original watercolor painting depicts hot pink belle femme sporting an outrageous look all her own: while her striped shirt is an ensemble fit for Goddard's "À Bout De Soufflé" her polka dotted pink afro shouts disco diva. This simpering siren can add pop to any room—from the parlour to the powder room—of the art lover or the ardent francophone in your life. Printed on archival, Museo Portfolio Rag. Hand-signed and dated by the artist. Made in Arizona.

Valerie Galloway

I'm influenced by old family photos, especially ones of my French mother and her sister. They always looked so glamorous with their fabulous hairdos from the 1960's. I'm also inspired by French New Wave cinema, and old American TV shows from the 1960's and 70's. Recreating some of these looks is a way for me to recapture moments from my childhood, and I relish enveloping myself in the spirit of that era. See all creations.
