Salt of the Earth

It turns out that variety really is the spice of life, and that holds true even for salt. Foodies know there's more to this essential mineral than you can find in your average saltshaker, and that salt from around the world actually comes in an astonishing variety of colors, textures and flavors.

This set of exotic salts is a treat for both the eyes and the taste buds. Six varieties are held in corked test tubes, showing off their unique variations even when not in use. The set includes finely textured red salt from Hawaii, coarse smoked salt from Denmark, delicate pink salts from Pakistan and Australia, white salt formed from the ocean in El Salvador, and black, flakey salt from the island of Cyprus. Each tube is labeled with the salt's name and usage, whether for cooking, finishing or table use. The tubes come displayed in a stylish, contemporary rack hand-cut from reclaimed cedar by Brett Cramer in the USA. And once your salt runs out, add some flavor to your home decor by using the test tubes as a delightful bud vase. Test tubes also made in the USA, salts from around the world.

Exclusively at UncommonGoods.

Brett Cramer

Brett wasn't always the salty genius he is today. Until 2009, his mental power was focused on entrepreneurship in the tech industry. But that year, he decided to make a special holiday gift for his friends. Combining his love of gourmet cooking and his enjoyment of woodworking, he created a wooden base from scrap lumber to hold a row of test tubes, which he filled with exotic salts from around the world. The response from his friends was so positive, that he realized he had hit upon something wonderful. He refined his design and grew his homemade gift idea into a business that today offers 180 different kinds of salt from 30 different countries. See all creations.

Candace is great at adding variety to our assortment, and this time she's found a fun variety in just one unique product! Would you love to add a little spice to your life with this new Salts of the World set?

Classy presentation, and a great idea to unclude usage info (finishing vs. cooking) to make the most of the varieties.

Looks nice, but not sure what kind of cook if would give this to. Your average cook wouldn't need this, and a chef would need more particular ingredients for a recipe.

A bit on the high side but it would be a great gift to introduce someone to the tastes of salt.

Had a similiar product, but with spices, you have to refill the ones you used. Just a show piece, kitchen decor.

Such a cool idea! You get to sample six different gourmet varieties of salt, and it has such a nice presentation. A tad pricey at first glance, but it does come out to $5.84 a tube, and I'm sure a little bit goes a long way. Plus, you get the cute rack!

nancy

I've seen similar items with smaller footprints. This would be cumbersome to store.

Very good idea a way to try salts of the world without buying a whole jar and not like it.
