Talk On Wood

Artist Lara Mann transforms a familiar material into something unexpectedly new. She painted over a plank of ordinary wood with a vibrant palette of colors, highlighting the undulating grain and even leaving a tough knot exposed. The result feels both natural and crafted, contemporary and traditional.

This portable work of art was chosen from over a hundred entries to become a finalist in our iPhone Case Design Challenge. The graphics are printed onto a durable Lexan case that snaps easily over your phone. Made in Georgia. Fits iPhone 4/4S/5/5S

Exclusively at UncommonGoods.

Lara Mann

"I work within the boundary between intuitive and systemic. By using a set of givens and possibilities to determine the end result, and adhering an authentic amount of calculated uncertainty, the outcome is simple yet visually intense. With my wood grain inspired paintings, I came across a wooden circular table-top at a home improvement store which was quickly followed by an "a-ha" moment. I realized I could adhere my natural color sensibility to the beautiful organic lines of the grain and knots."
