Best Case Scenario

Made from reclaimed fleece jackets and sweaters, these felted cases offer your Kindle the same protection from the elements you've come to expect from your favorite coat. Unlike other flimsy, permeable fabric cases, ReFleece cases get their structure and style from a unique method of fabrication created by designer Sam Palmer. Reclaimed jackets and sweaters are washed, cut into squares, and then pressed using a low-energy process that gives the fleece a new look and a new life. These lightweight, fuzzy shells shut tightly to protect delicate touch screens and keys from moisture, dirt, crumbs, and sticky fingers, and an ingenious, built-in cable port allows you to charge up even when the case is closed. Every case is manufactured, sewn, and packaged in the USA from recycled materials that are sourced locally. Water resistant; not waterproof.

Sam Palmer

ReFleece was started by Sam Palmer and Jennifer Feller as a way to combine their passion for sustainability and the outdoors with a love of beautiful, function-driven design. A husband and wife team, they met at Patagonia back in 1995, when they were both folding fleece in the Boston store. Sam went on to help design Patagonia's first surfboard, and later, to design products for industry-leader IDEO. Jennifer moved into the world of science and outdoor education, eventually consulting with some of the country's most innovative education start-ups. Sam designed the first ReFleece cases in the family's basement. He pressed the forms in the oven, and cooled them in the backyard, using the piles of old fleece that still lived in their closets. Jennifer came on board in 2012, inspired by the idea of creating a sustainably-minded small business. ReFleece is part of a new generation of sustainable design, marrying the best of form and function with a deeply held commitment to ecological sustainability and community responsibility. ReFleece products are designed to serve a purpose while satisfying the senses and delighting the user with a bit of whimsy. We hope they bring a smile to their owners, and inspire them to see the old stuff lying around their own homes.
