What a Fox!

As a creature that waits for the cloak of darkness to make an appearance, a vibrant red fox on the prowl is a rare sight indeed. Inspired by the fox's elusive nature despite its eye-catching coat, Dolan Geiman created this stunning collage from zig-zag cuts of various pieces of paper. Geiman constructs the entire animal, from his expressive face to his swishy tail, using carefully cut pieces of sheet music, magazine spreads, and newspaper clippings to add depth and dimensionality to his fox's fiery fur.

Alluding to his muse's mysterious nature, Dolan's portrait is accompanied by the phrase "Le renard roux est un esprit à jamais" ("The red fox is a spirit forever").

Each box print edition is a refined reproduction of an original Dolan Geiman artwork that has been digitally printed directly onto a wood panel. Limited edition of 750. Signed and numbered on the back. A ready-to-hang print alternative. Made in Chicago, Illinois.

Dolan Geiman is a nationally recognized mixed media artist known for his Contemporary Art with a Southern Accent. Born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Dolan Geiman’s formative years were defined by outdoor adventures in his bucolic surroundings. Twenty-plus years later, the flora and fauna, found curiosities, and fading Appalachian culture still define Geiman’s contemporary-folk creations. Trained in printmaking and sculpture, Geiman’s mediums span painting, collage, silk screen, drawing, and 3-D assemblage. An advocate for green design and sustainable business, Geiman and his wife Ali Marie currently work from a green warehouse in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood. collection
