Melanie Mckenney
Melanie Mckenney originally hails from Buffalo, NY. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from nearby Alfred University in 2006, but continued her training through numerous workshops, including study at the Studio Arts Centers International in Florence, Italy. Melanie helped to run a non-profit ceramics program in Lexington, MA, before returning to Buffalo, where she lives with her husband, daughter, and two dogs.
Melanie finds the inspiration for her functional pottery in nature, and believes that capturing those natural forms in clay evokes a new appreciation for everyday objects. Often taken for granted, fruits and vegetables display a rich variety of shapes, colors, and textures. By casting directly from the actual fruit or vegetable, Melanie is able to capture these in detail. Her line of Vegetabowlsc has been in production since 2010, and she hopes to promote local farming, healthy eating, and an appreciation for handmade housewares. See

Melanie Mckenney gets an A in attention to detail. Her Red Delicious Apple Cup looks just like the real thing--because it's made from the real thing! She crafted her original mold from an actual apple, giving each piece the perfect shape and texture. Would you serve hot cider, warm caramel apple dip, or ice-cold apple juice in this delicious design?

Cute but a little too simple. I wish it had a bit more realistic flair.

It sure doesn't look like a real apple was used for the mold. Looks like any other small bowl/cup. I wish it looked more like a real apple, especially at the bottom.

Not really sure what the appeal is?

Agree with Tracy, doesn't look much like an apple, looks like a bowl. Question how many uses with a bowl as small as an apple other thsn candy ot nuts and UnCommon Goods already has enough that are cuter.
