A Lion's Pride

In Egyptian mythology, there was a fierce warrior goddess named Sekhmet who had the head of a lion. Both a healer and a hunter, she would protect the pharaoh in battle, destroying her enemies with flaming arrows. How awesome is that? We can't get a cat to even come when we call.

Show off your own leonine spirit with this bold, papier-mache lion head. A traditional symbol of courage, authority and wisdom, this folk art creation brings a fearless energy to any room.

Not only that, this lion's gift of strength extends to others as well: it's produced by an initiative that employs 200 talented artisans in Haiti. Handmade from recycled materials, the form is crafted from recycled cement sacks, cardboard, and vibrantly colored fabric scraps, sealed together using an arrowroot starch glue. Comes packed in a re-usable box made from recycled newspaper. Handmade in Haiti.

Comments about RECYCLED PAPER LION HEAD:

This is the coolest-looking wall art I've seen in a long time. It's perfect for our kids' playroom, which has a wild-animal theme. Can't speak to its durability yet, as we just received it, but it seems very sturdy. Quite true to the picture in the catalog/online, though the colors of the mane vary a bit, which is fine. Very pleased with the purchase.

I love the piece, but I wish it were bigger. I won't be able to use it in my living room above my two new chairs. My sister loves it, so I will give it to her instead.

I have this lion hanging with other animal heads from Haiti. Love his green eyes. But wish he was a bit larger.
