For the Beauty of the Earth

Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. Where we might see an ugly mess of broken glass bottles, artists Vawn and Mike Gray see the raw materials for their exquisite, earth-friendly artwork.

The Grays created this sparkling, pointillistic landscape using a palette of shattered glass that might have otherwise been cluttering a landfill. A tall oak tree--made from brown and green beer and rum bottles--grows next to a deep blue river of vodka bottle glass. The glass scenery stands on a base of fired ceramic bisque, and when lit from within by its 40 watt CFL bulb, it glows like a little piece of paradise. Handmade in Cape Coral, Florida by Vawn and Mike Gray in a limited edition of 500, each one is signed and numbered underneath its base.

Due to the handmade and recycled nature of these items, each is one-of-a-kind and will vary slightly.

Exclusively at UncommonGoods.

Vawn and Mike Gray

For 20 years, Vawn and Mike Gray created and sold original lines of fine arts and crafts. But they were always haunted by the environmentally wrong processes and materials that were involved with it--Aerosol spray cans, toxic glazes, energy sucking kilns, miles of bubble wrap and mountains of Styrofoam peanuts. To top it off, they would load it all into a one-ton, gas-guzzling truck and travel across the state and the country to different exhibits.

In the Summer of 2007, while watching a world wide broadcast of the "Live Earth" concert, they were inspired to change their ways. On that weekend they launched Reborn Glass: Artful reminders To Conserve. See all creations.
