Smoldering Beauty

When artist Valentino Llegada found a rusted fire extinguisher in his studio, he saw something beautiful in its weathered form. Cleaned up and hand-painted, it became the first of these lovely, one-of-a-kind vases. The striking, no-nonsense industrial design of the metal container nicely emphasizes the brushed contours of Llegada's richly colored paints. Filled with fresh cut flowers or propped on their own, these color-washed vases make a beautiful addition to any room. Handmade in Florida.

Sold separately; choice of warm or cool colors. Warm colors will include more pink and orange tones, cool colors will include more brown and neutral tones.

Valentino Llegada

Inspired by minimalist contours and industrial sculpture, Uruguayan artist Valentino Llegada first discovered metallic structures as an Academy of Fine Arts student in Montevideo. But like many successful artists, he's learned to temper his passion with philosophy: "Finding my life's passion was not my most significant discovery," he says. "What's been most important to me has been realizing that the ego makes us believe that we are the ones who create, design and invent."

Llegada credits higher, more universal sources for his art, sharing his belief that "everything that exists has existed, and will exist in another dimension that gives those who care an opportunity to carry the prized idea out. In other words, we are just recipients as "artists," and are privileged to have an exchange with this endless, providing source."
