Glassmakers, Nanda and Rebecca Soderberg, currently live and work in San Clemente, California where their company, Solos Glass, specializes in transforming mundane objects into extraordinary works of art.
Nanda received his BFA in Glass from the University of Hawaii in 1998. After graduating, he spent 8 years doing production glass blowing in Seattle before moving to Richmond, Virginia to attend graduate school. He completed his MFA at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2007 and began teaching glass blowing in the Craft/Material Studies department at VCU as an adjunct faculty member.
His wife, Rebecca, studied in glassmaking at Rhode Island School of Design and received her BFA in 1999 from the San Francisco Art Institute.
Together, the couple started Solos Glass in 2007 to create high quality handmade products that are distinctive and modern. They collaborate in the studio, blowing glass and designing contemporary objects for today's home. "The most important thing to me is that people are drawn to these pieces because of their form," Nanda says, "I am constantly researching new ways to use recycled mass produced glass objects so that people will use them again in different ways, as a design accent in a living or work space."
