The cards don't appear to be a the standard size of an index card. I really don't want to have to copy my recipes from one set of cards to another. The box looks unfinished and prone to staining if left on the counter near the stove.

Kind of cute but do people use recipe cards anymore?! Price point way too high.

just too expensive

Expensive wooden box. I'm not big on written recipes - I prefer things saved digitally.
Angela
TOO EXPENSIVE.

Nice retro gift but overpriced.

Nice that the description mentions that CD/DVDs will fit. However, the wood appears to be quite thin and not overly durable. Too expensive for a small box.

Vote: Thumbs up!
This is a neat gift and recipe boxes are hard to find.

Who has recipe boxes anymore? All of mine are either in slick books or on my computer. I do dig the cool graphics, though.
Teresa

Way more than I want to spend!

My uncle could make this for me, and then it could look however I want it to. I think it needs to be wider so it could hold the average recipe card size and not just ones that look to be the size of post-its.

ditto my remarks on the recipe book.

again, too expensive, and not very useful. We are in a digital world, and as a chef myself, I don't have time to handwrite my recipes. It's all on my computer.

Doesn't look like much for the money -- a thin wooden box.

WAY too pricey!

Way too expensive.

This would be way better in a standard 3x5 recipe card size. I like the utensils on top, but it's really impractical. And expensive! I'll stick with my index cards and plain plastic box from Staples...
Amanda

I like the idea but would never pay $55 for a simple wooden box

Vote: Thumbs up!
I agree, it should have a stain-proof finish. But I love the recycled paper, the cool size, the silverware design is great and it holds CDs and DVD's. I would use it near my computer for meal planning more than in the kitchen.

I don't think people use recipe cards much anymore
Katy

I don't get it. What sets this apart from any other recipe box.
Marty
Vote: Thumbs down!
Too expensive and it looks like just plain wood without any finish. Not good for the kitchen.

So many out there as it is......I don't use my anymore.

I actually do like recipe cards and good ones are hard to find. There are two problems here: the box is useless and you can only write on one side of the card. Just too expensive for those drawbacks.
Greta

I agree...should have been standard size but I like the top a lot

love the decor/ design of the cards themselves but for about a tenth of the price! top design (silverware print) is cute, chic,
Melissa
Vote: Thumbs down!
Just seems a bit small. I prefer to have recipes larger so I can jot down notes and additional ideas on it.
Gayle
Lower the price and you've got a deal!
Jana
Vote: Thumbs down!
contemporary take on a classic design, but it does appear that it would stain easily and it does seem overpriced

nice gift though very pricey

i just dont use recipes enough, and though the "CD/DVDs of your favorite shows" seems practical- who keeps CDs/DVDs in their kitchen... you'd have to take them to the living room to watch them
Kathleen

WAAAY too expensive. It looks like a balsa-wood box. It would get ruined in the first few days of being in a kitchen.

Do they cards just stack? Talk about unorganized! Plus, $55 for a wooden box? Never.

Nonstandard size with a boring box. It looks like 4 pieces of cheap laminate stuck together with a rubber stamp on top. Blah.

Great design - WAY too expensive!!!

Too expensive, plus the odd size means you're out of luck when the cards run out. SHOULD hold standard 3x5 cards instead.

The wood box needs to have a finish on it so all those spashes and slops don't perminately mar it.

The wood looks lovely, and the print on the top is cute. But I haven't seen anyone use a recipe box in ages. Nor have I seen people store cooking CDs or DVDs in a box. Everything is online. Think epicurious.com, where you can search by ingredients you have on hand, etc.
Janet

Really $55 for what looks like balsa wood box and cards?? You can't even use standard cards in the box so you would have to buy more of their size. No thanks!

I wanted to give this a thumbs up b/c I think it's adorable, but it's just way too expensive. The one given to me at my shower was probably less than $10.
Mary

I like it but when I look at what it is, I would NEVER pay that much!!

Again, I need something I can access in a digital format. If this was a way to display recipes stored digitally, great. I need to access recipes when I am at the market, not pull the card, take it with me, lose it, stain it, etc... So 1956!

Who has time to write recipes, who has room for another thing on the countertop. In this day and age think computers.
Steven
Vote: Thumbs up!
I barely voted 'thumbs up'. I like the box but price is too high.
Wendy
Vote: Thumbs down!
Okay, you can store CDs alongside the recipe cards, but not the conventional recipe cards we already have. Not practical, unless one is truly starting from scratch in setting up a kitchen.
Heather
Vote: Thumbs down!
What's up with the price of some of these items? A wooden recipe box for $55???
Kathleen
Vote: Thumbs down!
Lots of people do actually still save recipes on cards, but not at this price. A pack of index cards for $2 and a little wood or metal box for $6 and you're set.
Suzanne
Vote: Thumbs down!
too expensive, not something I would ever use and I don't know anyone who would
k
Vote: Thumbs down!
lovely product but doesn't seem super practical. -no holder to prop up selected recipe card -limited space and every recipe already have would have to be rewritten on specialized card - and if a wooden box w/ 150 paper cards costs $55, i wouldn't expect refill cards being reasonably priced. -high aesthetic value but i could also go to the craft store and purchase everything i would need to make this for less that $55.it is charming though
Ruth
Vote: Thumbs down!
Cute box but weird looking size and priced to high for unfinished look of kit.
Heather
Vote: Thumbs down!
Like the silverware design on top, but it just seems very plain otherwise. And these days just not as practical with everyone saving things on their computer. And I think the price would be prohibitive.
Leslie
Vote: Thumbs down!
It will get dirty. Too expensive and people just don't collect recipes on cards like they did in the past.

This is something my dad could make me and it definitely wouldn't cost $55.00. It's not even finished.
Lisa
Vote: Thumbs down!
I need something to help organize and hold all the recipes I print off the Internet - NOT another handwritten card box.
Jennifer
Vote: Thumbs down!
The idea is good, but it doesn't seem practical with the size of the cards. So many recipes now take up a full page in those cooking magazines, how am I going to fit it on one of those cards?
Marla
Vote: Thumbs down!
For those who still want a recipe box, $55 is far too high.
Joana

I don't know but $55 for a recipe card box seems a bit expensive. Plus it looks so deep. I don't understand how the cards would work in the box, plus the cards look bigger than the standard 3 x 5's.
