- the story
Fit for a Queen
Bewitched by the countless sprigs of delicate Queen's Anne's lace that flourish during summer in her northern Connecticut home, sculptor Dana Brandwein and her team preserve this seasonal sensation for your enjoyment year round in this creamy porcelain dishware set. As summer fades and fields turn to gold, the artists harvest plumes of the wispy blooms and create molds in their exact likeness. The intricate impressions created using these molds are then rubbed with a deep umber glaze and wiped to fade the natural floral prints into the ceramic's pale surface. The pieces are then dipped into a matte white glaze to preserve the organic patterning and to create a finish that is both food- and dishwasher-safe. The hand of the artist can be felt in the careful construction of each piece, elevating everyday entertaining into a brush with artistry. Handmade in Connecticut.

Dana Brandwein Oates
Dana worked nearly 20 years in the music business before founding her own company. As a former record label marketing exec, she worked with a host of bands and artists, but a merger and a burning desire to be more creative opened the door to a big change.
Dana began making hand built ceramics in New York City in 2001. After leaving New York, she was taught wheel throwing in Connecticut by a local artist, Susan Fox. "Everything else has been experimentation...learning along the way better techniques, glaze mixing, slip casting, mold making etc."
Dana's husband, sculptor Daniel Oates, joined her in 2008 adding hand crafted custom wood furniture to their mix of ceramics and lighting. Their company is now a lifestyle brand focused on the luxury of handmade items for the home. Dana and Daniel's work is in trendsetting shops across the country and in Paris, and has been featured in magazines including Food&Wine, Elle Decor, Martha Stewart Living, Whole Living, Bon Appetit, Martha Stewart Weddings, Country Living, Real Simple and New England Home. collection
