Mirror, Mirror On the Wall
You might forget to even look at your reflection when you see the splendid details and colors of this artful mirror. This work of art was designed by Robert M. Weiss and then recreated by Peruvian artisans through the process of reverse painting on glass. This is a meticulous process of painting the design in reverse, then placing the glass paint-side down in the frame, and the handmade quality can be seen in every detail. Between the gold-painted wooden frame, the glass reflect glowing earthy colors like ruddy browns, dark golds, creams and deep turquoise blues in a combination of geometric patterns and Peruvian folk art.

Robert M. Weiss
New York designer Robert M. Weiss says he began his artistic career by painting his parents' living room. Today, he works in collaboration with artisans in Peru to create one-of-a-kind handmade pieces. The artisans use the Old World techniques of Reverse Painting. The process requires the design to be meticulously painted in the reverse on the glass and then, placed paint-side down into the frame. See all creations.
