Get Inked
At once cheeky and artful, glassmaker Jill Henrietta Davis' hand-blown penholder captures the old world charm of a quill and inkwell in a vibrant, modern design.
Use it hold that special pen or to deter pen-snatching coworkers from borrowing your favorite stylo. Go ahead--tell them those rich swirls of colored glass are really just exploded ballpoints. Handmade in Rhode Island.
Exclusively at UncommonGoods.
Each is one-of-a-kind and will vary slightly.
- Item ID: 20728
- Materials: glass
- Approx. 2.5" H x 1.5" dia. Top dia. approx 3/4"

A pen holder should hold more than 1 pen

Very cool. Love the color. Clever.

Should hold more than one pen.

Love this! It's not supposed to hold more than your one favorite, special pen. Minimalism, folks.
Suzanne
Vote: Thumbs up!
Lovely and probably much more handy than the crowded pen holder currently on my desk.

It's just okay. I agree with other comments, it should either hold more than one pen, or should look exactly like an inkwell, rather than just suggest the same shape.
Tessa
Vote: Thumbs up!
I'd use it as a minature vase versus pen holder.
Mallory
Vote: Thumbs up!
Realtively decent price and great idea; Perfect for your favorite pen. I think there should be another one that will hold more than one pen to satisfy those who like it but want it larger.

one pen? and I have to have good aim in a hurry...no
Jen
Vote: Thumbs down!
I get tnat it can only hold one pen to make the design work, but its not practical. A better approach would be to increase the price and include one really nice pen.
Stacey

like it but wish it would hold more than one pen.

Just an expensive pen holder. Not impressed.

I like it but probably wouldn't use it as a pen holder. It only holds one pen and I don't think I have, or would ever have, a fancy enough pen to use this. But for $20 it's a fun desk ornament. Maybe since it's a modern take on an inkwell, get a large peacock feather or something like that? Could be fun to play with.
Diana
should have a beautiful pen that comes with it.

Really pretty
MELISSA
Vote: Thumbs up!
i agree that it looks more like a bud vase to me than an ink well. for the 'exploded ballpoint' look to play (and for me to want to use

Beautiful desktop decoration for a great price! Classes things up a bit.
Cynthia
Would be great if it were large enough to hold a real pen (ie not disposable).
Ginger

Reasonably priced and very attractive!

I can never seem to find a good pen when I need one-this would solve that problem! Love the color too!
Mariah
Vote: Thumbs down!
I agree it should hold more that one pen, or look more like an inkwell. I could also see this as more of a vase. but maybe it is just the pen in the picture makes it look cheap?
vanessa

should be able to hold more than one pen!

Love it. I might buy this as a gift for a friend to keep on her desk at work. Cute and not over priced. Way to go Ms. Davis. Love it.

Only holds one pen..I sure have a lot more than that on my desk.

i wouldn't pay 20 dollars for a pen holder that holds only one pen. i like the design, but it isn't worth $20 to me..
Gabriela
Vote: Thumbs down!
It just seems weird that it only holds one pen. Maybe that's just me...
Andrea
Vote: Thumbs down!
seems a bit excessive for just one pen... i would never buy that.
Mitzi
Vote: Thumbs up!
I would buy more than one of these. Price is very reasonable. Very cute idea
Tina Marie
Vote: Thumbs down!
would have to be a very expensive pen to put it in a $20 pen holder. how many cheap pens would fit in a paper cup ?
Jessica
Vote: Thumbs down!
Why would I further clutter my desk with a penholder that only holds one pen? While the idea is interesting, this is the 21st century; we no longer write with quills.

I agree with "Love this! It's not supposed to hold more than your one favorite, special pen. Minimalism, folks."
Amanda
Vote: Thumbs down!
it's an interesting design, but not practical enough to buy. it doesn't hold enough pens, especially when it's marketed with a cheap plastic pen.
Mary
Vote: Thumbs down!
I would want something that would hold more than one pen
Dana
Vote: Thumbs down!
Pretty, but not practical.
Lynn
Vote: Thumbs down!
definitely better marketed as a mini vase
Ann
Vote: Thumbs up!
I love everything about this! It's functional, beautiful, priced perfectly and best of all....HANDMADE IN THE USA ! And all you need is one pen...NOT A CLUTTERED JAR of several. Less is more. I can wait to buy one!

Vote: Thumbs down!
Great idea and love that it is handblown however I don't think many people will purchase a glass pen holder for only 1 pen, should be larger for $40....makes more sense.
Kendra
Vote: Thumbs down!
Love the idea, and the pen hold itself is definitely my style-but only one pen? Not very functional.

Heidi

What's the point. it holds one pen and isn't that pretty or artfully crafted.
Lisa

Clever, just wish it was bigger or held more pens.

Cute idea, nice glass piece, but the exploding pen thing just isn't coming across to me. My desk is big, but I really would not use a one-pen holder.

Vote: Thumbs down!
A glass pen holder that holds one pen is extra clutter on my desk until I break it.
Irene
This would be another one of those "wants" not "needs". Why would you even want it? Just another gimmick to blow a $20 bill. Thumbs down!
Amanda
Vote: Thumbs down!
beautiful but too impractical. should hold more than one pen.
Jamie
Vote: Thumbs up!
Love it! Keeps desktop cleaner with the one pen antone needs at one time!
Laurie
Vote: Thumbs down!
That would be broken on a busy desk.
Laura
Vote: Thumbs up!
AMAZING!
Kim

Agree with Jen...pen holders whould be larger. Call it a bud vase and I'd be more likely to buy it.

What a great gift for those who have a special pen! I love fountain pens, and this is a great holder for the lucky person who owns a very special pen ! Price is fabulous! I'd get this just for my drawing pens! Love it!

I kinda love that it only holds one pen.
Linda
Vote: Thumbs up!
Good gift price point
joy
Vote: Thumbs down!
impractical
Tony
Vote: Thumbs down!
It doesn't really look like ink. Plastics and silcones could have been more realistic.
Sharon
Vote: Thumbs down!
Why a pretend inkwell for a ballpoint? Doesn't make sense to me.
taryn
Vote: Thumbs up!
Take a better picture with a nicer pen, one worthy of the holder
Amy
Vote: Thumbs down!
It's pretty, but needs to be able to hold more pens for the price!
Xena
Vote: Thumbs down!
Needs to hold more than one pen. And it's really not very unique.
Stephanie
Vote: Thumbs up!
super neat!
Parvathi
Vote: Thumbs down!
"that special pen" would be much fatter than the inexpensive pen pictured and would never fit into the penholder opening.
Kathy
Vote: Thumbs down!
not very creative
Pam
Vote: Thumbs up!
like it as a vase. Eh, as a pen holder
Katie
Vote: Thumbs down!
Maybe you could raise the price and include a matching pen. the only time a pen holder is only capable of holding a single writing utensil then that device better be the best darn pen you have ever seen. Not some give away convention swag.
hannah
Vote: Thumbs up!
It would be better if it could hold more than one pen.
Amy
Vote: Thumbs down!
Should hold more than one pen
SJM
Vote: Thumbs up!
Great price for a small gift! And I like that it only holds one pen, I think the visual effect would be lost of it held more than one. I also would never get a pen holder that looked exactly like an inkwell, since I'm not Ben Franklin...
Colleen
I think I would like this more if it held more than one pen
M
Vote: Thumbs down!
$20 to hold one pen is crazy.
Lisa
Vote: Thumbs down!
i would like it better if it held more than one pen... might be cuter as a bud vase instead.
SUZETTE
Vote: Thumbs up!
Great idea. Would be nice if it could hold at least two pens.
Julie
Vote: Thumbs down!
It's very pretty but too small. I would like it better if it held a few pens.
Ann

I love it! Very unique!
Angela
Vote: Thumbs up!
Gorgeous!
Andrea Gray
Vote: Thumbs down!
I feel like this could have been more clever. Maybe the glass could've had real ink encapsulated in the bottom of the glass piece, to make it appear to be a real inkwell, while the penholder piece remained closed off in order to hold a regular pen?
Deborah
Vote: Thumbs up!
Kind of interesting.
Heidi
Vote: Thumbs down!
why?
Hallie
Vote: Thumbs up!
Inexpensive unique way to keep a pen on a desk
Patti
Vote: Thumbs up!
My husband is a pen fanatic and holders catch his eye, too. I think this is unique and artsy -- right up his right brain alley!
Jackie
Vote: Thumbs up!
Love it.. great gift for someone's desk. Seems to be priced well
Sherri
Vote: Thumbs up!

Delyn
Vote: Thumbs down!
Eh.
Shannon
Vote: Thumbs down!
It's small. Pretty, but also pretty useless. And overpriced.
Jaye
Vote: Thumbs down!
Too fragile to be practical.
Sarah
Vote: Thumbs down!
It is simply not practical.
Marla
Vote: Thumbs up!
Looks like it would be a cute bud vase too.
Eleny
Vote: Thumbs down!
It is pretty but like other have said, a pen holder needs to hold more then one.
Jenny
Vote: Thumbs up!
I love the hand blown glass paperweights, and if this is heavy enough, it would be a perfect combo of both.
Angie
Cool idea, un cool price. Too much for what it does!!!
Heidi
Vote: Thumbs up!
also, great price!!!
Sharon
Vote: Thumbs down!
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Michelle
Vote: Thumbs down!
mixed feelings on this one so probably wouldn't spend the money for myself or give as gift.
Joana
Vote: Thumbs down!
i wouldnt pay 20 dollars for something to hold ONE pen, no matter how cute it looked. one pen? seriously?!
Heather
Vote: Thumbs up!
Pretty, but teachers may not want an item which can be broken and used as a weapon on their desk. Could a pewter or sterling version be made, also? Price could vary, yes.
ELLEN
Vote: Thumbs up!
I like it, but would have to find the correct pen for it. Kind of looks dumb with the pen in the picture.
Jesse
Vote: Thumbs up!
color options?
KAREN
Vote: Thumbs down!
It had better be a very special pen if it gets it's own holder.
Mary
Vote: Thumbs up!
Not too expensive, and definitely something I would buy as a gift.
Beth
Vote: Thumbs up!
I like it, can see using it on a desk for a favorite pen, corking it and making it an unusual ink well, or using it as a mini vase as suggested already. I like art glass, this is affordable, fun nd it comes in my favorite color. ;-)
stacie
Vote: Thumbs up!
very neet. Nice to use at a register if you own your own store.
Sasha
Vote: Thumbs up!
You should only need one pen if people quit "borrowing" or forgeting to give it back. How many pens do you want to go through?
Meya
Vote: Thumbs down!
needs a fancy pen to go with it. Maybe a modern quill pen.
Kirsten
Vote: Thumbs up!
Very clever and artistic!
Eileen
Vote: Thumbs up!
This is pretty. I can see using this for a small flower vase as well.
Tim
Vote: Thumbs down!
only holds one pen
