Sunlight After Rain

Whether it's joy, sorrow, or unstoppable laughter, tears can express emotions our words can't seem to capture. Express some of your own feelings with this heartfelt necklace. The silver bar pendant on this necklace is actually a Maori symbol called a roimata--it translates as "teardrop", but is used to represent healing, comfort, and strength. It’s paired with a 22k gold vermeil charm marked with a plus sign, reminding the wearer to seek the positive. Comes on a 24" sterling silver ball chain.

Artist Mary Steratore gathers her materials from around the globe: waxes and molds are made in Italy, the charms are cast in Thailand, and the chain is made in the USA. She assembles the final necklace in the USA.

Mary Steratore

It can be quite daunting trading one career for another, especially when there are PhD's involved. But for Mary Steratore, it led to the realization of true artistic expression. Leaving archaeology to create her own fine art, Steratore settled in Rome where her paintings and sculptures were well-received. After showing her work all over Italy and the US, she developed a new line of jewelry, dubbed b.u., as an extension of her sculpting. Drawing from Steratore's vast knowledge of artifacts and her extensive world travels, b.u. creations have an old-world aesthetic. Each piece is meticulously hand-made using a long-lost wax-casting method. With the help of Rome's top notch artisans, Steratore brings a little beauty and a lot of ancient wisdom into everyday, modern lives. collection
