Literary Classics

Add a touch of nostalgic whimsy and imagination with these charming decorative birdhouses handmade from beloved children's story books.

Designer Dave Vissat stumbled upon this idea when he was making a birdhouse for his mother. He ran out of wood, so he resorted to using an old book as a roof. Then he began incorporating interesting text and illustrations as well.

Now, Vissat searches and scavenges flea markets and libraries for discarded and vintage books, then he scans the cover, makes a print and affixes it to the exterior of the house.

These ornamental wooden houses use old-fashioned illustrations and pages to capture the memories of innocence, childhood and all the wonderful places we found in the pages of our favorite books. Choose from the classic Winnie the Pooh house, with wooden honey drizzle stick perch or The Wizard of OZ house with broom perch. Made in Pennsylvania. Sold separately. For indoor use only.
