Dilly Dally

Make a peck of pickles right in the comfort of your kitchen with this miniature barrel. The crunchy snack has been a pantry staple throughout history: the word pickle is derived from the Dutch pekel or northern German poken, meaning "salt" or "brine"—a key ingredient for the deli favorite, along with dill, garlic, spices, and water. When eastern European Jews arrived in New York City during the late 19th-century, they brought classic kosher dills, which were fermented in big wooden barrels and sold on pushcarts in immigrant tenement districts. Take the tradition into your own hands with this lightly toasted, American white oak barrel that includes an old-fashioned recipe for first-time fermentors. Handmade in Manassas, Virginia.
