Best Face Forward
This handmade, customized sterling silver pendant is a tiny masterpiece of Old World craftsmanship. It captures the form of a classic cameo in sterling silver, and features the silhouette of you or a loved one. Once the artist, Amy Abroult, receives a photo of your subject's profile, she shrinks it down to the appropriate size and uses a tiny jeweler's saw to cut the shape from a sheet of silver and solders it to an oval background. She oxidizes the surface, which creates a dark color, and then lightly sands the silhouette, bringing back its silver sheen and creating a pleasing contrast against the background. Close attention is paid to every detail, from the hand forged silver clasp to the carefully soldered joints that ensure lasting durability. This is an extraordinary piece of jewelry that will be treasured for generations. Handmade in Holbrook, MA.
Tips for taking a good profile photo:
-When taking the photo, please be sure to take it from the same level as the subject.
For example, if the child is sitting down, you should be sitting next to him/her, not
standing.
-Make sure the subject is looking straight ahead. If the head is turned toward or
away from the camera, it will not be a good, clear profile.
-Please include the entire head (don't crop the back of the head) as well as the neck
and part of the chest. Posture and head shape are important in capturing a person's
essence in profile.
-Send a clear picture with lots of contrast between the person's profile and the
background. For example, don't take a dark picture with a dark background, and
take care to make sure the background isn't too busy. It can be difficult to make out
the tiny details of a face if there isn't a clear distinction between the subject and
background.
- For Girls: It is best to put your hair in a ponytail so the proportions stay true.

Amy Ambroult is a Boston-based jeweler. She loves the tactile experience of jewelry making and she enjoys manipulating metal into beautiful forms.

I bought this piece and it is fabulous. If you want cheap costume jewelry then this is not for you. If you want a personalized piece that is hand crafted with fine materials....well, you found your item. It is well worth every penny! Something I will have in my family for generations.
