Love this item, but the price is far beyond my budget for something like this. I wouldn't spend a penny more than $100 and that would still be a bit much.

Casey, you may be able to purchase the materials for under $50, but the price of this item is for the custom typography and the labor required to build it from scratch from the reclaimed wood.

This isn't unlike buying a piece of art like a watercolor or oil painting. Of course you can buy the canvas and paint for MUCH less and do it yourself. The $ is for the artistry and the lettering is really artful.

I think hand-made, well crafted board like this -- custom designed, remember - is worth the price. Especially if you request the magnetic chalk paint! Would definitely buy.

I understand that the price is high because of what a nice handmade product this is, but I just think I would never buy this item for the listed price. I don't think many people would. They might think it's cool but never buy it. Just my opinion.

Very cool. The idea of personalized chalkboards is not only ingenious, but rustic and charming too. It's a playful gift given at a baby shower, a stylish way to exhibit specials at a restaurant, and an original, custom piece of art in your own home. I think the price is right for what it is. PS-My wedding is at a ranch in October, is it possible to have one made by then?

My only complaint is the price. I mean, chalkboard paint is a bit pricey, but the wood is reclaimed and slate isn't the most expensive thing ever....

i love this, but would NEVER buy it until the price came way down! it can't be that hard to either do this yourself or find someone to do it for you for like 1/3 of the price.

I, for one have NEVER spent 250.00 on a shower gift. Way out of mine, and everyone I know price range. Piece of slate mounted in a recycled frame sans glass and some free hand or stenciled paint, probably cost about 20.00. Ridiculous price.
