Each book is handmade with lokta paper, which comes from the inner bark of the Lokta bush, a renewable resource that regenerates within three years. The bark is stripped without cutting down the whole bush.
The paper is made in the rural, mountainous villages of Nepal, using no electricity. The paper travels for five days on the backs of donkeys to reach the town of Kathmundu, where the book is made.
Tree-free and acid-free, this soft paper has a wonderful texture and handmade look to it, exuding warmth and charm. The paper business helps to support the hardworking people in Nepal.
