A Penny Saved

Artist Stacey Lee Webber likes to use familiar materials in unexpected ways, transforming them into something new and beautiful. For this stylish money clip, she transforms ordinary pennies or dimes into a pocket-sized mosaic of textured copper or silver tiles. Each coin is hand-cut, silver soldered together, plated, and riveted to a sturdy, brushed nickel money clip. Look closely at the resulting collage of each President's profile... sophisticated and full of character.. since each coin exhibits a unique pattern of wear from its life in circulation. A practical work of art, it will be treasured beyond the cash it holds. Handmade in Philadelphia. Sold separately

  • Item ID: 21451
  • Materials: copper, nickel
  • 2" L x .75" W
  • Product may tarnish over time, if not kept in a plastic bag.
    Polish with a soft cloth.

Look closely at this handmade money clip and you'll see a familiar face! Stacey Lee Webber uses pennies to create this lovely patchwork pattern (check out the product story to learn more). Are these metal Lincolns the perfect place for your paper Lincolns, Jacksons, and Franklins?

Isn't defacing or altering currency (including coins) illegal?

Vanessa

It looks more like a plate of brownies and I don't know any man who would use this.

Maybe I'm older than some others who have commented; my generation definitely carries money clips. And I like it! It feels just a tad pricey.

Not my thing

cute concept, but way too pricey. To address the "who carries a money clip" comments, is there anything else the artist could use this concept with? a braclet, ring, wallet, etc?

Price point is too high. And agreed: who uses money clips any more?

Love the use of everyday items for art and the mosaic is beautiful. Not sure how many people still use money clips. Would love to see this as earrings or a smaller pendant.

Cool idea! Just not sure how many people use money clips.

I'm confused by the voters that commented on the price, as I didn't see a price listed. That said, I would buy it for my dad who's 85, and my father-in-law, who's 91, and my best customer who's 82. Old men carry cash, and old men are VERY hard to buy for! Please produce it!

People are going back to using cash and many professionals use money clips to hold extra business cards. I like the style of this.

The only people who use money clips are rich businessmen who would buy something made out of gold or something

Pennies and nickels are money. I'd rather see the spare change go to a charitable source. I like the design, though.

I use a money clip to carry a few bucks to work, however, it looks like the change would fall off.

Thanks for voting, Carol! We did have the prices on some of our voting app designs when they first went up for consideration, but we decided to remove the prices. This way voters can focus more on the product story and design without being influenced by a dollar amount (that might not be completely accurate, since we're still working out details on these items).
