Cowboy Cactus Mobile

In his quest to create the perfect plate for devouring pancakes, designer Jon Wye broke down the elements of what makes a pillowy stack so comforting. After a lifelong love affair with breakfast, Wye pin-pointed the crux of satisfaction: syrup. Designed with a raised edge that gently slopes the plate toward the diner and an ingenious reservoir for pooling loose syrup, this plate was made for slicing, dipping and delighting in each bite of pancake goodness. But the best part? This plate enhances any saucy dish down to the last drop. Made in Arizona. Sold as a set of 2 plates.
Exclusively for UncommonGoods
Designer Jon Wye is quick to point out that his background is not in art. Sure he's always been creative--as a child, he used to make his own versions of the devices illustrated in The Way Things Work--but it wasn't until he was an adult that, on a whim, he started creating handmade pewter belt buckles and got hooked. He collaborates with a collective of artists and designers, but still likes to approach projects with an unusual, problem-solving perspective.
Case in point: pancakes. Wye is something of a diehard, pancake aficionado. Once, after a bad breakup, he ate made-from-scratch pancakes at least once a day for six months. Over time he perfected his own recipe, and discovered a way to keep them from becoming a syrupy mess by developing a sloped-surface plate.

Comments about PANCAKE PLATES - SET OF 2:
My hubby was thrilled with this unique gift. Our waffles stayed warm and crisp, bacon stayed dry from gobs of syrup. We also used these plates for dinner with pork tenderloin and mushroom gravy. The plates can be used for anything that needs separating. Great yet practical gift. They are a little heavy but worth it for the final result!

Comments about PANCAKE PLATES - SET OF 2:
These plates were working well. I used them for several months but the last time I did one of them spider cracked throughout while my pancakes were just sitting on it. After that I was afraid to use the other one in the microwave (which I have not ever done with either of them) and definitely hand washed it to keep it from breaking too. Now if I want another one, I have to buy 2 more. Not sure it's completely worth it. Otherwise they are great plates but wouldn't recommend them to anyone right now.
