Know When to Fold 'Em

Origami isn't just about making paper cranes. In the hands of designer Julie Dye, folded paper transforms into delightful accessories that are anything but flat.

These origami earrings feature dangling columns of intricately hand-braided, Japanese paper. The paper is not only beautiful--bringing a joyful pop of color to your look—but is also lightweight and pulls very little at your ear. The visual complexity of origami offset nicely by the simple, sterling silver hardware. The paper is finished with multiple layers of a protective coating, to ensure its longevity and to protect against the elements. Handmade in Florida.

Julie Dye

Julie Dye is passionate about working with paper and creating unique, one of a kind products. It all started when Julie was a student of photography at the Ringling College of Art and Design. It was at this time that she enrolled in her first bookbinding class. She immediately fell in love with the old age practice of binding books by hand and discovered great pleasure in the process of working with her hands. Over the next ten years she continued to explore the possibilities of working with such a delicate and irreversible medium. She has since gone on to create a line of handmade jewelry, accessories, home décor, and gift items crafted from beautiful Japanese papers
