Know When to Fold 'Em

Origami isn't just about making paper cranes. In the hands of designer Julie Dye, folded paper transforms into delightful accessories that are anything but flat.

These origami earrings feature dangling columns of intricately hand-braided, Japanese paper. The paper is not only beautiful--bringing a joyful pop of color to your look—but is also lightweight and pulls very little at your ear. The visual complexity of origami offset nicely by the simple, sterling silver hardware. The paper is finished with multiple layers of a protective coating, to ensure its longevity and to protect against the elements. Handmade in Florida.

Julie Dye

Julie Dye is passionate about working with paper and creating unique, one of a kind products. It all started when Julie was a student of photography at the Ringling College of Art and Design. It was at this time that she enrolled in her first bookbinding class. She immediately fell in love with the old age practice of binding books by hand and discovered great pleasure in the process of working with her hands. Over the next ten years she continued to explore the possibilities of working with such a delicate and irreversible medium. She has since gone on to create a line of handmade jewelry, accessories, home décor, and gift items crafted from beautiful Japanese papers

We love the detail in these handcrafted earrings. Does Julie Dye's origami art have your vote?

I hope they'd be available in a range of colors? And maybe shapes?

Adorable. I want them in black

Vote: Thumbs down!

I have nothing against them. I simply don't care for the looks

I can't see anyone over the age of 20 wearing these. They just ant very appealing. Maybe in different colors- these look like peppermint candies hanging from your ears.

Colorful and unique; like the sterling hardware and the fact these are made in the USA! Could they be offered in different colors?

Vote: Thumbs down!

Not my style. Also, when I was a kid, we used to make similar woven paper blocks out of candy wrappers. They were cool when we were 13, maybe not so much now.

Vote: Thumbs up!

Cute, artsy product. Hope the price is practical. Love it

Cute but I wouldn't wear them.

Very unique - I'd wear them!

They are quite cute. I expect them to be inexpensive, though, as they are super easy to make.

These are adorable! Are there additional colors?

Thanks, Georgia! What colors would you like to see?

I think they're lovely. My only concern would be price. I'm on a fairly tight budget. If I can't afford them, I might try my hand at making my own.

I like the origami design, but these earrings are just too long for me to wear.
