"I love learning and developing my scarf collections, from the sourcing of raw materials, to implementing new designs, to seeing how the pieces are received by the wearer," says Lydia Henkel-Moellmann. After studying fashion in college, she moved to New York City and began designing jewelry. That led to her exploration of the textile world through designing scarves. Each of her collections begins with a design trip to India, where she sees what natural materials are available to her and collaborates with skilled weavers and makers. From there, she focuses on what styles, weavings, and dyes work best together.
