Oh, My Stars

An iconic tribute to Catherine Weitzman's love of the ocean, the lustrous charms on this hammered sterling silver bangle are an understated and sophisticated representation of family. Cast in 18k gold vermeil from real sea stars, each bracelet comes with a large star to represent the mother and up to four smaller stars clustered around it to represent each child in the family- the result is a glittering constellation that celebrates the bonds between mother and child. Handmade in Hawaii.

Catherine Weitzman

location

Hawaii

Catherine Weitzman draws her inspiration from her innate sense of organic style, her love and respect for the ocean, and her extensive world travels. She's had the good fortune to study first hand with traditional artisans from many parts of the world. In addition to apprenticing with metalsmiths at the Scuola Lorenzo di Medici in Florence, this group of mentors includes silversmiths of the Sahara, bamboo whittlers from Indonesia, and creators of precious metal clay in Tokyo. Drawing from each of these experiences, Catherine developed her own unique process and production style. She designs much of her work with her husband, Scott Diamond, and collaborates with an extremely gifted handmade production team in their California and Hawaii studios.

Each item in the Uncommon Collection meets five important standards. Here's how My Lucky Stars Bracelet qualified for the Collection:

Original Design

Cast from real sea stars, Catherine Weitzman's My Lucky Stars Bracelet is a wearable portrait, offering a series of stars to represent each part of a family's constellation—the largest star stands for the mother, while the cluster of smaller stars represent each child. The symbolic nature of the design offers a special, hidden meaning for the wearer, along with a youthfully sophisticated bangle silhouette.
