mom and baby bird paperweight setby Jill Henrietta Davis $35.00
- the story
Even when a baby bird learns to stretch its wings and fly, it's heart stays close to the nest. This pair of handcrafted glass paperweights is a sweet, visual reminder of that love. Bluebirds represent happiness and good fortune, and the pairing of a large and a small bird represents the bond between parent and child. The two can be displayed together in an affectionate tableau, or one can be sent with a child leaving home, so that parent and child both have a reminder of the other. Artist Jill Henrietta Davis shapes each one by hand, with each unique pinch of tail or beak seeming to give them distinctive personalities. Handmade in Providence, Rhode Island.
Exclusively at UncommonGoods.

Jill Henrietta Davis
In 1988, after experimenting with many different materials and art forms, artist Jill Henrietta Davis was first exposed to the wonders of molten glass and immediately fell under its spell. Sixteen years, a BFA and an MFA later, she remains as smitten as ever.
"Glass can do things that would be impossible with any other material, and although the learning process is quite difficult, once you gain a little fluency, blowing glass is just plain fun," Jill says. "I try to convey this fun by blending humor with fine craftsmanship in my designs." collection
