Shabd Simon-Alexander is an internationally renowned textile artist, designer, author and educator. Her clothing line, shabd, is carried in high-end boutiques and art museums around the world. The collection is produced locally in NYC's garment district, and all fabrics are dyed by hand in the Brooklyn studio. She collaborates with various designers, organizations and artists, and loves working on special projects. Shabd is a professor of textiles, teaches hand-dyeing workshops around the world, and throws tie-dye parties from time to time. She has been featured in countless magazines as well as books, web, TV and radio. Shabd has also written for Martha Stewart, Maharam Stories, Hand-Eye Magazine, Dis Magazine, and Lena Corwin's book Made by Hand. Her first book, Tie-Dye: Dye It, Wear It, Share It, was released in June to a celebration at the Whitney Museum. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
