March of the Penguin Cup

Hanna Lim was at a restaurant when she discovered her 9-month-old daughter could drink from a straw with ease. Her pediatrician had recommended Lim wean her daughter to a straw instead of a sippy cup, but the child had been unable to drink from any of the commercially available straw cups.

That's when the idea for this child-friendly penguin cup was hatched. Its straw is narrow, which helps control the flow of liquid, and valve-free, for easy sipping. It even has a weighted end that keeps the straw anchored in the liquid, even when the cup is tipped. The cup's two handles are easily gripped by little hands, and can be removed to make it cup holder compatible. The playful, brightly colored design is also simple enough that it separates into just a few pieces, for easy cleaning. Includes a brush for cleaning the straw.

The cup is FDA approved for children as young as 9 months, and contains no BPA and phthalates. All parts are recyclable. Made in the USA.

Notes
The Lollacup was designed without valves as an alternative to spill proof cups that have valves which make them both difficult for young children to drink from and for parents to clean. This valve-less design does not make the cup spill proof.
Care:Clean all parts thoroughly with soap and water before first use and after each subsequent use. Top rack dishwasher safe, but handwashing your Lollacup is recommended.

Warning: Do not microwave, boil or sterilize. Supervise child to ensure proper use of Lollacup. Do not allow child to walk or run while holding cup. Do not use with hot liquids. Straw is for drinking purposes only. Do not allow child to play with or chew on straw. Inspect straw regularly and promptly replace if there are signs of cracks or tears. Keep straw cleaning brush away from children.

    Comments about Lollacup:

I saw this item when it aired on Shark Tank and just loved the concept of the weighted straw as my 1 yr old at the time always had milk left over in her sippy cups and could never finish the whole thing when tilted. I subsequently had twins and when they were able to drink from a straw, I decided to take the plunge and spend the $60+ dollars for the sippy cups. I just loved the idea until I got them and my twins who got accustomed to harder to drink straws were choking on the fast flow. This product is not good for little kids who turn things upside down and throw things around as it leaks way too much. My now almost 4 year old can drink from it no problem but now she can drink from a regular cup so not really of use for her now. I wish I hadn't spent so much money on leaky cups although if you can fix the leaks and slow down the flow just a little, it would be a great product!

Returning. Unlike the Zoli cup, this doesn't work if you turn it upside down. Also leaks everywhere.

          Comments about Lollacup:

          About the product:

This product contains a weighted straw that is not rigid and does not need to be bitten to work. It also contains a flip lid to cover the straw when not in use. The handles are easily removed and re-attached. This product, as a whole, is extremely easy to take apart and put back together.

          Cleaning:

Cleaning is easy and a cleaning brush is provided. Personally, I prefer throwing everything in the dishwasher, however, I do hand wash this item. Therefore, I do not consider this "easy to wash" when it comes to satisfying my laziness, but it is "easy to wash" when it comes to hand-washing if you are willing to do that.

          Durability:

When used as intended, this product is durable though it does leak in certain positions. My 15-month-old, however, isn't so delicate with things and decided to throw his onto the floor from his high chair. The top plastic pieces that make up the bird's head feathers broke right off. The rest of the product remained in tact. Therefore, this product may not be for those who might be inclined to throw things.

          Summary:

I purchased this item looking for a sippy cup that has a straw, is leak-proof, easy to clean, and durable. This product has a straw and is relatively easy to clean, but it can leak and break in the right toddler hands. Compared to many other products I've tried that were awful (the worst of which, in my opinion was the Nuby No-Spill Flip-it Cup), I am satisfied with my purchase.

I especially like the curved brush that cleans the

          calls it "birdy".

I had been eyeing these for a while, and I've been very happy with the usability of the cup so far. My 13 mos. old son loves using it. The only complaint is that due to the straw design, water can escape the straw (even when the lid is closed) if he shakes it or if it is left upside down.

This cup looks great and works even better! The handles are removable so it travels well, and the big opening makes it easier to clean through the crevices. I also like the fact that there's no valve yet it still won't spill in my diaper bag.
