Plug It In, Plug It In

These soft knitted power cords bring new meaning to the phrase, "plug and play!" Charming, quirky and completely unexpected, use them as decorative belts, curtain ties, or double and triple them and wear as jewelry or skinny scarves. The possibilities are endless, and all you have to do is "plug" into your imaginative side.

Handmade in Brooklyn by artist Nguyen Le from a cotton/wool blend yarn made by a family owned & operated yarn company in Mitchell, Nebraska.

From the artist: The first power cord was made for my sister," Nguyen says. "When I first started knitting, I would knit everyone gifts, and it was hard coming up with something for my sister because she isn't very girly.

"The idea for the power cord came to me when I was drifting off to sleep one night. I keep an idea book next to my bed, and it just hit me - genius idea! And I scrawled a drawing of a power cord in my book and wrote 'knit' next to it."

Nguyen Le

Brooklyn-based artist, Nguyen Le is the creator and designer behind Knit Knit. She creates striking accessories by using age-old traditions of knitting and felting, and often incorporating fiber with metal and wood elements.

Along with elegance, she aims to add light, humor and wit to her work. Her pieces are modern with clever twists, that are both wearable and eye-catching. She is inspired by everything around her, and loves to make things that wouldn't normally be softly made.

With a bachelor of science in photography, Nguyen has learned to show her point of view through images. She has been able to transfer this skill to her craft by sharing her unique creations.

Nguyen is inspired by nature and the people in her life. Something about their profession, likes or lives will trigger an object that could be knitted/felted/stitched together.

"The first power cord was made for my sister," Nguyen says."When I first started knitting, I would knit everyone gifts, and it was hard coming up with something for my sister because she isn't very girly.

"The idea for the power cord came to me when I was drifting off to sleep one night. I keep an idea book next to my bed, and it just hit me--genius idea! And I scrawled a drawing of a power cord in my book and wrote 'knit' next to it."
