From Trash to Treasure

Gary Genetti is an award-winning artist who has found inspiration and beauty in the least likely of places: the junkyard. Glass is Genetti's medium of choice, and when he realized the volume of tempered glass that is discarded and lies in landfills, he found a new creative mission for himself, transforming that wasted material into something useful. With this piece, he carefully forms a round sheet of glass into a basin, and then fuses melted shards to its convex side. The effect is like looking through layers of glacial ice, with the delicate blue-green of tempered glass enhancing the look. This striking sculptural work would look particularly fabulous perched atop a mantel or coffee table. Handmade in New York.
