A Tree With A Twist

Like a tree from an enchanted forest, this fanciful creation features beautifully gnarled roots, winding limbs and spiraled branches all hand twisted out of aluminum. Weighed down with shimmering chunks of speckled glass that look like a forest floor, this jewelry tree by artists Todd Briske and Brenda Griffith is a functional statement piece perfect for displaying necklaces and earrings.

Twenty points for hanging jewelry. Branches are adjustable and arrangeable. Each is one-of-a-kind and will vary.

Brenda Griffith

Born and raised in Montana, Brenda Griffith forged a style based on the design elements of geometric terraces laced by natural flourish based on nearby Glacier Park. This shows through her stained, fused and slumped glass pieces. Next she lived in Chicago, which infused her work with a strong Art Nouveau influence.

"I apprenticed with a stained glass artist for two years starting in 1985," she recalls. "During my tenure with her I was introduced to glass fusing and slumping and that, as they say, was all she wrote." Stained glass requires hard work, vision, technique and skill, and in the case of glass fusing, a little luck to get the piece just right.

"I like to make plates, platters and bowls," she continues, "and I want the people who feel compelled to own them to also use them. To that end all of my pieces are food safe." Brenda lives in Atlanta. Her favorite film is Moonstruck.
