Like a Jellyfish to Watercolor

Inspired by the unpredictable motion of a jellyfish, artist Karen Chan leaves color to chance in this vibrant artwork. Using a wet on wet technique, watercolor and ink are puddled on the paper, creating a unique fluid effect that mimics the ebbs and flows of the ocean. Showcasing an unexpected blend of color, this piece is highlighted by a lively, yet ethereal air. Printed in Portland, Oregon.

Exclusively for UncommonGoods

Karen Chan is an artist from Silver Spring, Maryland. She enjoys creating pieces using watercolor, oil and acrylic paints, and pencil. Although she has a public health background and currently holds a job in the healthcare field, she maintains her passion for art and can often be found working at a local art studio on weekends. She is influenced by her love of nature and particularly loves creating portraits and still lifes. She strives to create pieces that evoke a sense of appreciation in the seeming mundanity of the natural world.
