Josh, a new dog dad himself, found this "baby book" that celebrates pet parenting for what it truly is - when you adopt a dog, you're not just getting a pet, you're gaining a new family member. Would you use this book to write about your new addition, or gift it to a dog-loving friend?

I would have loved to have owned this book for my puppy's first year of life!

Alexis

This would have been great for my puppy's first year! What a great way to put all of those pictures/memories together to share (instead of bombarding friends with puppy stories and cell phone pics!) :)

I like the idea, and agree with Alexis that it would save many from the cell phone brag book of new puppy photos and stories. Tough to give as a gift though, as you would have to get it there as soon as the dog comes home. Still like it though.

Love it! I wish I had it for my mom's new dog. Especially the notes about the bad things he has done LOL

Great for those with no kids and their pets ARE their children...also good for anyone. Cute and priced OK too.

what a nice gift for the new parent of a puppy. as long as the puppy doesn't chew it up. another great idea!

I would have loved this for my "old" baby - will get one for my next one.

I think it is really cute, a good idea. Especially since this country has gone totally insane for pets and pet products. I personally wouldn't pay for this, but I know many others would.

nice but a little over priced

It's hard enough to keep up with the child

I'd rather spend the money on toys they can play with -- and I bet the dogs would be happier too.

cute idea but really what do you do with it when you're done? who is really going to read it when you are done.

I love my dogs, but pictures are just fine.

I know so many people who would love this! Though at 20, chances are I would only buy 1 or 2 as gifts. If it were less expensive, I would buy a whole bunch for gifts.

its a very cute idea, but wouldn't pay 20.00 for a book that will collect dust in 2 weeks

Would be a unique gift for someone who adopted a dog. For families, the kids can particiapte in filling it in, or even be in charge of it. I hope there could be one for cats, too!

seriously have you had a new puppy and/or kitten? It's like raising a new born, no sleep, constant attention, etc, and I'm supposed to stop and journal? some people have way too much time on their hands.

Cute idea. I like that it is made in the US.

Very cute idea! But why no cat's life? I'm a dog walker/pet sitter and this would be a great gift for clients with both kinds of new additions!

many people love their animals just as much as we do human babies. I think pet owner's would get a kick out of this.

It's not like you can read it with them when they're older...

A great gift for friends who have dogs and not kids.

I love my pets but agree with others. I have yet to complete my last kids baby book. I take pics and store them on my computer in a pet file. That is enough for me.

Being a dog lover of course I think it's a great keepsake.

I have kids and I haven't even finished their baby books. This would probably make some of my more pet crazy friends happy but I wouldn't buy it.

I wish I had this when my elderly dogs were pups. Now my most recent memories are of me giving my girl, Tallulah, her arthritis pill. sigh...

I have 3 chihuahuas and you forget things that they do, so to be able to have a nice journal/keepsake, to keep pictures and liitle stories about them wouls be charming! very clever idea!

As a book lover who buys lots of books, I can tell you that this is not worth $20.00

holly

Why don't the people who would buy this take that $20 and give it to starving KIDS here in America?

I'm a huge fan of journals first off! Secondly, it's adorable, sweet, and sentimental. Plus it's at a decent price. If I got a puppy, I would buy this!

SOOOOO GETTING THIS!!!

Marisa, UG Assistant Community Moderator

For those of you who asked about a cat version of It's a Dog's Life, we spoke to the creative team who designed these, and they said there are no plans so far to make one. But if the dog journal sells well, a cat version is a possibility!
