The Manor Bindery

The Manor Bindery, created in 1976 by a group of friends with a common passion for books and fine binding, get its namesake from the Manor of Cadland, an estate once used by William the Conqueror himself. Bringing together a small team of craftsmen, expert in binding and restoring antiquarian books the company has expanded and diversified into new and interesting fields. One of which is the manufacture of false books. Some might say this is unusual but the use of false books to conceal doors, weapons and other secrets is as old as bookbinding itself. The Kindle and iPad are the perfect example of wrapping new, modern technology with the look and nostalgic feel of an antiquarian book.

Comments about IPAD & KINDLE BOOK CASE- THEORY OF RELATIVITY:

I fell in love with the photos of the "Fairy Tale" book-like iPad cover.

I read many reviewers complained, missing the description that it's not leather. But I also read about the artist and the company, who make very limited amount of each design with quality. So I gave it a try, and I'm SO GLAD I got this item.

I received it today. Yes, it is made of paper, mimicking leather bound vintage book cover. But it's well made with attention to the details. And I like it's not leather, to keep the weight light. The design is perfect!! So lovely and better than the photos.

My only complaint would be that it was really hard to put iPad (4th Gen, should be thinner than iPad2, which this case seems to be originally made for) into the moulded case -- I needed to make a nick each at two corners of the vinyl to fit.

It seems the "Fairy Tale" version has been sold out. I want it back, so that I can buy the Kindle version too -- I'm tempted to buy Kindle, just because I love this case so much.

While it is a cool looking cover, my father couldn't put it on his Ipad, and I broke 2 nails getting it in... The material is cardboard, which for the price, seems weak.

Comments about IPAD & KINDLE BOOK CASE- THEORY OF RELATIVITY:

I recommended this to my mother to purchase for my husband as a Christmas gift. She ordered it and when he opened it on Christmas morning i was furious. For[$] this was garbage, it looks as if someone made it from a cardboard shipping case, some scrapbook supplies, a glossy photocopy of a book cover and glue. My mom doesn't have a lot of money and she wanted something nice for him. I ordered so many wonderful things for people from uncommon goods that I thought this would be a great option for her. It wasn't nor does it even remotely live up to the quality you will usually find at uncommon goods.

Comments about IPAD & KINDLE BOOK CASE- THEORY OF RELATIVITY:

This gift was great, although I first thought it would be a leather (or faux) bound case - especially for the price - it was just a hard cover case with the design printed upon it. It is still very nice though.

Loved the idea of this product and couldn't wait to get. My 3day shipping turned into almost 3 weeks. When I got it I was so surprised at it's size. It is the size of my Kindle's reading area. Yes it fits the measurements described in small print but the big print says fits Kindle. Guess I shouldn't assume all Kindle's are the same size. Shame on me.

I was so looking forward to having a Kindle cover that really replicated an old book. Alas, there was no raised lettering nor weathered leather texture. It's just a shiny surface depicting the real thing. Too bad. I had hoped to send other versions as gifts to other Kindle fans.
